Tis the season for another competition! That is exactly what I did. Blenderguru.com was hosting another Christmas competition that I thought I would take part in. Here is my piece.
Unfortunately, I didn't win. That's okay though. Each project just gives me more experience as I go along. Plus I learned new skills that made this project better than the last Christmas one I did.
On top of that I am working on my character sculpting and retopping. Quite a lot to learn there, but the community has been awesome in giving me feedback. He's not finished yet, but here is what he looks like.
Last but not least I am learning about how to make game assets. In other words I am concept drawing of a rock. Don't have a picture of that yet, but I will when it's done.
Merry Christmas!
Cheers!

Coffee Scene and a Thanksgiving Special!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
This is kind of a random post. First off I would like to present this coffee scene that I worked on for school. I was learning about compositing. The course presented the before image, but after image and the node web are my work. It took me a while to figure out, but it was worth it.
8. A car
10. Music

Next I would like to invite Rebekah from Rebekah Ashleigh,
Jonathan from The2ndBrother
James from Idaho Spud
and AKMD from AKMD
to join in on the Thanks Giving Tag! WOOP WOOP 😆!
Rules: Complete the task and pass it on!
Task: Name 10 things you are thankful for! (Bonus: Feel free to add in why if you want to!)
1. Family
Where would I be without them?
2. A place to live
3. Friends
4. My job
5. A Heavenly Father
Where would I be without Him. He is the one looking out for me the most.
6. Electronics
Justification time! Without my computer I couldn't do blog post, work on my artwork, download music... Without my iPod I couldn't listen to music easily... Without a cell phone I couldn't call for help if I needed to... You get the picture. :)
7. Animals
Not including the ones in our house. I was kidding! I was just kidding! Gosh, calm down everyone! Can't you take a joke.
8. A car
Walking to work in the cold wouldn't be much fun.
9. Rain
It smells good and freshens the air.
10. Music
I listen to a lot of music. The world would be a weird place without it.
And because I'm extra thankful, I'll throw in a bonus 11.
11. Art/CGCookie
The CGCookie classes that I have been taking have taught me so much and encouraged me to try new things that I would normally avoid. (Like the node editor). I appreciate the crew and the community of artist that have been so helpful in answering my questions and helping me through tough spots.
Feel free to add your own bonus 11.

An Apple A Day...
Hey guys. Here's a project I'm working on for practice. I'm planning on doing a picture with him, but to do that properly I want to learn more about texturing first so that it can look nice.
Here are a few of the faces he can make so far.

Anyway, our family had a great time on vacation in Oregon just last week. It was awesome. Not counting the car trip to and from on account that I get dreadfully car sick. I did take pills this time and they did help.
Here are some highlights of the trip!

4. Do you like to have a snack while you watch a movie? If so, what's your favorite?

The Liebster Award!
Greetings all!!! I am back with another tag! This time I was tagged by Rebekah from Rebekah's Remarks. Here goes something!
Rules
Link back to the person who tagged you.
Answer their 11questions
Tag 11 bloggers
Ask them 11questions
Let them know you've tagged them.
1. What inspires you most in your writing and/blogging?
That's a good question. I would have to say that different events and experiences with people inspire me. Like the hawk and mouse picture which represented the car salesmen and me. That experience plus some help from my Mom made the perfect project.
2. What's your biggest pet peeve?
I really get "peeved" when the family dog get's into my room and get's into my trash can. I try to remember to keep my door shut now.
3. Who has had the biggest impact on your life?
Hands down it would be my parents! I was (and sometimes still am :D )a pretty stubborn kid, but they stuck with it!
4. What's the earliest memory you have?
I notified them though that if they wanted to do that again, I'll stay behind.
5. Unicorns or Pegasi?
Tough choice. Let's see. Pegasus fly and I'm afraid of heights, but they are very pretty. Unicorns on the other hand have a horn and are on land. I would have to go with the Unicorn.
6. Hamburgurs or Hot dogs?
Hamburgurs for sure! I love a good burger!
7. Do you think eagles, falcons, or hawks are more cool?
Owls. What.... not an option. *sigh* fiiiiine. I'll go with falcons.
8. Scotland or Ireland?
Honestly I have no idea.
9. Dragons or griffins?
Dragons!!!!! I love dragons!!!!! Dragons are so coooool!!!!
10. Sushi or oatmeal?
Sushi. Sushi is delicious!
11. Are you a Morning Bird or a Night Owl?
Definitely a Night Owl.
A grand loud thanks to Rebekah for tagging me. It was fun!
Here are the questions...
1. Do you prefer to stay on land, swim, or fly?

A New Toy!!!
Hey everyone! It's been a while, but I finally have something to post about.
I have recently purchased a nice shiny new WHITE BOARD!!!!!! to go in my room. It's size is 2'x3'.
So many possibilities with this super cool item. Brainstorming galore, white board sketches, storyboarding, memos! How exciting! Not to mention that I personally think it gives my room another shade of cool.
Anyhoo, I drew a picture on it for you. Just a quick warm up sketch and what better test subject to use than my favorite animal the horse.

Flower Cottage
Hello everyone. For the last few weeks I have been working on a project for a competition. I have also been waiting a little over a week for the results. It was a Blender competition that you had to create a picture with the theme 'dreamland'. I saw this as a good opportunity to work on my skills plus I thought it would be super fun, which it was.
The results came in and . . . . . drumroll please. . . . . I didn't win. I didn't even make it to the finalist list, but that's okay! I walked away with new skills. The person who did win deserved it 100%! He did an incredible picture and I'm totally happy for him. If you want to see it visit http://www.blenderguru.com/competitions/dreamland/
Don't worry! I'll be back! Just you wait! Lord willing I'll show improvement each time I enter a competition.
For you Blender artists out there. I would appreciate feedback on this project so that I can improve.
With all that said, I present to you 'Flower Cottage'.
Cheers!

A Few of My Favorite Drawings (part 2)
Here are the rest of the drawings from my favorite list.
Rembrandt Van Rijn. This man was a famous artist. Portraits of people had always been the toughest to draw. They still are. I enjoy taking up the challenge once in a while.
This young girl is from a book cover. I don't remember what the book was called.
This is the Red Baron aka Manfred von Richthofen. The only reason I drew him was because I saw
his picture in a book I was reading (I'm not sure which one.) and I thought to myself that he would make a cool drawing.
Finally we have the elephants. I love elephants! I just think they are so cool. Especially the BABIES! They are just so darn cute! This was a fun watercolor project to do. I even had my own props. Since real live elephants would be impossible the toy models would have to do.
Well that covers my favorite pictures. I hope you enjoyed them! It was fun for me to be able to share these with you!
Cheer!

A few of my favorite drawings (part 1)
Out of all the sketches I have done, these particular ones have remained my favorite.
This one is the cover from 'Swiss Family Robinson' book. I liked this one because, at the time, it was the most complex project I ever did.
This one is Alexander the Great. It is based off a white statue. (Hence the fact that he has strange eyes.)
John Gunther. An author from my school literature book I believe. I thought his picture was cool and I wanted to try out my new charcoal pencils.

I was and still am impressed with some of the famous artists out there. For fun I would try to imitate one of the really good artist. One being Leonardo da Vinci who painted ' Mona Lisa'. This was my take on the painting.
Part 2 should be coming soon. I hope you enjoyed these drawings!
Cheers!
